Tension has been growing via Twitter between Liam Payne and YouTube sensation Tyler Oakley.

It all started on Saturday afternoon when Liam tweeted Willie Robertson of hit TV show Duck Dynasty: “@willibosshog huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold. big fan”

Are you wondering why this whole situation became so controversial? Basically, the men of Duck Dynasty are widely known to be very anti-gay. They have released some very hateful and offensive statements regarding the whole gay community.

So here’s where Tyler enters the situation. He is an openly gay Youtuber who offers support to LGBTQ teens everywhere. So, naturally, he was a bit offended by Liam claiming that Duck Dynasty sticks to “family values.”

Tyler responded to Liam’s tweet with: “Wow. Very confused and disappointed by this @Real_Liam_Payne tweet. This literally changes everything…”

He went on to say, “If you defend someone actively supporting bigotry, homophobia, and ignorance, we’re not on the same wavelength to even have a discussion.”

Meanwhile, Liam deleted the original tweet, but two hours later, he added a statement.

“Being a fan of someones show and the way they still hold a family together doesnt mean i am ok with all they say.”

Since then, Liam sent 11 more tweets, vigorously defending his right to freedom, all of which can be viewed below:

Sounds to us like he may not agree with the anti-gay comments of the Duck Dynasty cast.

He went on to slam the media for twisting his words and calling him homophobic. He made it very clear that he only intended to state that he was a fan of the show, not of all that it endorses.

Tyler didn’t add anything more about Liam, but did state that he was “losing followers” and being told to “kill myself and leave the fandom.”

Regardless of what Liam intended with his originally tweet, nobody should be sending hate to Tyler.

Let’s just hope that this whole situation blows over soon.
