One Direction will never be replaced. But, that doesn’t stop Simon Cowell from trying to find a band just as good.

Which we know will never happen, but he can try.

According to sources, Simon Cowell is so keen to find a brand new, younger One Direction this year that he’s lowering the age restriction of the show. Now, budding singers as young as 14 will be able to audition for The X Factor, as opposed to the previous age 16 restriction.

What’s the point of that? Well, apparently Uncle Si thinks that will give him the best chance to find a new Harry, Liam, Niall, Louis and Zayn.

Now that One Direction are all grown up, can a younger boyband push them out of the limelight? We sure hope not!

The boys are quickly trying to shed their ‘boyband’ image, as they grow beards and stuff… So, maybe it is time for someone to step into their 16-year-old shoes?

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Simon knows that young people make the best pop stars. He desperately wants another One Direction or Cher Lloyd, and they were very young when they appeared on the show.”

Liam Payne was just 14-years-old when he auditioned for The X Factor back in 2008, which was the first time the age was lowered. However, things didn’t work out too well with the younger contestants so they pushed it back up.

Simon Cowell definitely has his work cut out for him, as we can’t imagine it will be easy for him to replicate the success he had with One Direction.

Do you think X Factor 2014 will produce a new 1D?
