Good news… Simon Cowell wants Ed Sheeran back with One Direction to write for their fourth album!

He previously wrote bonus track “Moments” for the band’s debut album “Up All Night”, and both “Over Again” and number one single “Little Things” on the second album “Take Me Home”.

However, he was notably absent from the credits of third album “Midnight Memories”.

Anyway, that’s all in the past. For the upcoming fourth record Ed Sheeran is BACK.

Chatting to Digital Spy earlier this week, he revealed he’d been approached by Simon Cowell after performing on Britain’s Got Talent.

He said: “I got called into Simon Cowell’s room at Britain’s Got Talent. There was some sort of political thing on the last record as to why I didn’t get asked and he was explaining that. He basically just said, ‘We need some songs’, so I’m seeing him next week.”

He went on to say about Cowell: “He’s such a nice guy though, man. I expected him to be this towering presence of fear, but he was really friendly.

“What I like about him is that he is very business savvy. He’s straight to the point. There’s no beating around the bush. I don’t like it when people beat around the bush.”

Also revealed to be writing on One Direction’s fourth album are McFly’s Tom, Danny and Dougie, as well as Irish band Kodaline, US rockers Good Charlotte and Indie group The 1975.

Ed Sheeran’s new album “x” is out on 23rd June.
